Xmas...

November 19th, 2009 (04:21 pm)
bored

current mood: bored

Christmas is gonna be here in like...a month. AUGH! I have to go shopping. Sooo poooor...

I'm glad that my boyfriend's brother made a plan of only doing $40 per family/couple this year. Which is nice cuz now we're not spending $40 per person!! For his older brother, wife and son I'm going to be family portrait in pencil. We'll spend the $40 on a nice frame.

For his younger brother and fiance...we haven't figured out yet. They're in debt and attempting to get married by August 2010...and since they'll be in even more serious debt...maybe something for their place. (They'll be renting an apartment that the fiance's father owns...aaaahahahaha). Sorry I shouldn't laugh, but everyone in their family agrees that they are being stupid. They buy everything when they have nothing.

Anyhoo. I'm heading down to Calgary this weekend. I plan on attempting the November theme of Rocker gal while I'm down there. So hopefully I'll have a post next week. If not then I'll at least have some outfits.

My youngest sister is coming up to Edmonton from Kelowna and we're having a sisters weekend next weekend...so if I don't get my rocker gal outfit together this weekend...then it'll be the next.

I'm gonna try something different with my hair as far as curling...because let's be honest...my attempt at rag curls did NOT work. Both times.

Anyone else having Xmas present troubles yet? I have to buy an anniversary gift, xmas gift, and bday gift for my boyfriend. I'M STUMPED!!!

Creativity sux

current mood: artistic

Lately I've been feeling kinda drained.
But creatively drained.
Yes I know that sounds ridiculous. Like I'm some "starving artist" who "needs to get in touch with her soul".
LAME!

But in all seriousness, I've been feeling a little down in the dumps because I want to be able to do something creative (as in painting, etc creative) and get some sort of satisfaction from it. Just doing it isn't any. I ended up looking into Fine Art programs at the universities here, but it's all so expensive. And frankly, I don't want to go back to school just to satisfy my creative juices.
Waste. Of. Money.

My boyfriend suggested, that while it may be a long process, I slowly stock up on supplies like canvas, oils, acrylics, inks, brushes...yadda yaddda, and just work! We don't have cable so there's technically nothing stopping me other than myself. And then when I get everything down and stocked and get some things going...maybe participate in my local Art Walk.

(An Art Walk BTW is when local artists line up down our "artistic" and "shopping" district, selling their art, promoting themselves, and working on art for the public to see)

So for Christmas I'm asking for art supplies! Yay. And while I'm at it...get going on those books I've been mulling over for the last year.

I'm gonna post more this week with pics from my birthday and from Halloween. Even tho Halloween will be kinda lame since I didn't do anything.

Rag curls

So I tried rag curling my hair last night. And I did do it and get it done, and all the rags held overnight. But when I took them out this morning...

POOF!

My head basically exploded into giant poodle hair. Literally. This is what it looked like...

...just with a flat area on the top half of my head.

Truely awful it was.

I'm gonna follow a different tutorial next time (cuz this method does work). I'll try taking wider sections of hair and wrapping it loosely. I did smaller sections and wrapped slightly tightly. I didn't think it would be THAT curly.

So I ended up sticking my head under the sink to fix the problem.

*sigh*

Drama-llamas everywhere!

The last couple of days have been so filled with drama!!
Online and in real-life.

1) HOSTAGES!

So yesterday, some guy went into the WCB building with a loaded rifle, fired one shot and then took 8 hostages on the 8th floor. Just as a heads up, the WCB is the Worker's Compensation Board, it's where people who were injured at work go to get benefits and pay while they are rehabilitating. The whole thing lasted from 8:30 am until 6:30 pm. The guy was pissed because he was being taken off of benefits.
The crazy part (for me) is that this building is a 5min walk away from my condo. Driving home from work I saw all of these cop cars and stuff. Fun downtown times.

But seriously dude. What the hell?
I know you're pissed at the whole "I lost my income/benefits thing". I would be. But the solution is not to go shoot up the place you're pissed at and take hostages. It shoulda been get a lawyer, some therapy, and a non-physical part-time job to help.

2) PROTESTORS!

A couple of days ago G.W. Bush came to the city to give a speech/talk/whatever. And whatever...I mean c'mon...ALL ex-presidents tour and give talks.
Although Bill Clinton more-so cuz Canadians love that guy.
Anyhoo...a bunch of protestors showed up to the talk and were protesting outside about his general crappiness as a person, as a president, etc etc. Like the whole Unnecessary War in Iraq deal, Economy in the Pooper, and more. One guy managed to get inside and just before Bush started speaking the guy starting yelling stuff and made a jump for the stage with a banner. Security jumped his ass.

Now don't get me wrong. I hate Bush just as much as the next person. But honestly, the dude isn't president anymore. What's he gonna do? Fix it? He can't. Although some admittance to his stupidity would be nice...but we won't get it, so let's all just sit back, relax, bask in Obama's awesomeness, laugh at those crazy American Conservatives and move on.
And maybe start praying that someone as good as Obama will show up in the Canadian government and take out Harper the Pedo.

3) GYARU SECRETS

Man that comm never seems to disappoint on drama. Mainly because of all of the BT hate. Which I still don't understand really. I think it's cuz a lot of people hated Coleman and he was a part of BT. Key word being WAS.
Anyhoo. I think that people need to give the whole "Oooo this member from *insert gal-sa name here* was mean to me on the internet! I'm gonna tell my mommy!" a rest.
Honestly people.
It's the internet.
Who cares if someone is mean to you online? I mean...yeah it sucks when it happens, but you gotta learn to suck it up, move on, and know that you're better than that. And yeah. In real life, there are gonna be people who are nicer to you in person than they are on the internet, behind your back or behind a veil of Anon. Don't tell me you've never done it EVER.
If you just leave people alone, they'll leave you alone. And if they don't, well then they're an asshole...and you should still ignore them.

Anyways, I believe in karma.
And no, not the "bad" karma "good" karma crap (cuz that's not real people). I believe in karma (really means "action"), which means that when someone does something, they will get a reaction, which may be good or bad, depending on their initial action, and they may get it then...or they may get it a couple years from now. Any action will get an equal reaction. Science people! And that is karma.
So my point is, is that if someone does something of cruel intentions and nature...it'll bite 'em in the ass eventually. And they probably won't see it coming and won't even know that it was karma.

~END OF DRAMA RANT~

Sorry for being so long winded. Haha!
